Holiday Accommodation for Bell-ringers

Ringing Holidays in Shropshire

by Sue Cornah

Stoke St. Milborough in Shropshire, has a very strong, keen tower of bell ringers and a somewhat mis-
matched odd-struck set of 8 bells. Henry Lewis, the tower captain, over several decades has unstintingly taught and encouraged many new bell ringers to ring, many of whom now keep the bells in motion in neighbouring villages and towns.

Time has come though, to see if we can procure a better matched, better pitched, more user-friendly set of lighter bells to replace our odd 8. As always, the only problem is raising ‘the dosh’, so we are doing our best to devise schemes (all suggestions welcome). Here is mine:

My husband and I, here in Stoke St. Milborough, have a very comfy and cosy self-contained annexe attached to our house. It has a double bedroom, bathroom with shower, galley style kitchen and living room. It is always warm with under-floor heating and constant hot water provided by our ground source heat exchange system. We have loads of parking space and are in the most glorious area for walking and exploring wild and wonderful Shropshire. Within
a ten mile radius there are bell practices every night of the week.

We are offering our annexe to bell-ringers for £30 a night, with all proceeds to go entirely to our bell fund. If you or anyone you know would like to come and stay, contact suecornah@hotmail.co.uk to enquire about what we have to offer.
